Tungnath


In the Rudraprayag area, at a height of 3,680 m, stands Tungnath, one of the highest Shiva temples in the entire globe. It is said that Lord Shiva's arms have appeared here. Pilgrims must make the easy 4 kilometer hike from Chopta to get here. You will pass by peaks like Nanda Devi, Chowkhamba, and Neelkanth on the way.

In the hierarchy of the Panch Kedars, it is the third Kedar (Tritiya Kedar). At 3,680 meters above sea level, Tungnath is situated and is thought to be more than 1,000 years old.
